Job Summary

Bowdoin College seeks a personable and highly motivated individual with leadership qualities to join the Annual Giving staff for a two-year, entry-level appointment. The Alumni Fund Associate’s main responsibility is overseeing the Senior Class Gift Campaign (SCGC) and student philanthropy program. They are also responsible for planning and implementing the Alumni Fund campaign with a slate of the youngest alumni classes and potentially managing the call center for the student phonathon. The Alumni Fund Associate reports to the Associate Director of Annual Giving.

Education/Skills Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree is required, and Bowdoin alumni are encouraged to apply. Excellent writing and communication skills are crucial, as are interpersonal and organizational skills. Inspiring, motivating, and managing alumni volunteers is a key component of this work. This position entails occasional travel for the purposes of volunteer engagement and regional event staffing. Applicants must be familiar with computer systems and be willing to learn new software.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

This is an entry-level, professional position. Candidates need to have had a successful and fulfilling student experience at Bowdoin or a similar residential liberal arts college. A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet the requirements of the College’s Motor Vehicle Use Policy are required.

Standard Work Days and Hours

Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with approximately four weeks of semi-regular evening (6pm-8:30pm) hours in the fall and spring semesters at the call center. Occasional evening or weekend events including Homecoming, Reunion, SCGC Launch, 1794 Reception, and volunteer events and conferences.
