Job Summary

The Assistant/Associate Director of Events & Summer Programs will be part of a team with primary responsible for the planning, coordination, promotion and execution of major academic year events including Commencement, Common Hour, Family Weekend, Faculty Symposia as well as campus-wide lectures and concerts. Additionally, the Assistant/Associate Director will collaborate with other team members on the external, revenue generating programs and events coordinated by the Events & Summer Programs Office.

Education/Skills Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s degree
Also required: Excellent organizational skills and customer service experience; demonstrated logistical planning skills; strong project management skills; demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; ability to meet deadlines and multi-task; strong supervisory skills; ability to negotiate and mediate; ability to partner with various campus departments to achieve common goals; creative problem solving skills; demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite plus the ability and willingness to learn other software as needed; and accurate record-keeping.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

Preferred: A minimum of 2 years’ event planning experience.

Standard Work Days and Hours

8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday with occasional evening and/or weekend hours to staff events during peak periods.
