Job Summary

The Executive Assistant is an administrative contact between the President’s Office and the rest of the College community. This person should be genuinely interested in the educational mission of the College, should enjoy contact with faculty, staff, students, trustees and Board members, and be able to handle many competing requests and demands with humor, discretion and professionalism. The Executive Assistant organizes and performs the administrative work of primarily the Vice President, but assists with the work of the President as needed. S/he screens and routes all correspondence, monitors and proactively handles the flow of work through the President’s Office, manages the Vice President’s schedule, makes travel arrangements, and maintains a strong liaison with the executive assistants of other senior officers within the College. This person’s capacity for confidentiality, responsiveness, for grasping the content of meetings/appointments scheduled, correspondence and memoranda quickly, and for dealing knowledgeably and confidently with colleagues and visitors will be a critical factor in the effective operation of the President’s Office. Prioritization of tasks, proactively tracking projects and work, and follow through are critical to operations of this office.

Education/Skills Requirements

An Associates degree is required, a Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred. Applicants must possess exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; strong attention to detail; considerable proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Outlook; the ability to multitask and prioritize in a demanding office setting, under deadlines, and with minimal supervision; and recognizing the importance of confidentiality and professionalism.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience providing high-level support to executive level staff in an executive support role is required.

Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Standard Work Days and Hours

This is an exempt position that requires the time commitment necessary to satisfactorily complete job requirements. Hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. Additional hours including occasional weekends is required.
