Position Summary

The Department of Government and Legal Studies at Bowdoin College invites applications for a one-year full-time visiting assistant professor with a specialty in political theory for the 2018-19 academic year. A second year is possible pending administrative approval. Evidence of teaching excellence or promise, and scholarly engagement is expected; Ph.D. in hand by the date of appointment is preferred, though ABDs will be considered. Teaching load is two courses each semester. We seek candidates able to offer a broad range of courses in political theory, for example classical political philosophy, modern political philosophy, contemporary political philosophy, American political thought, or others in the applicant’s area of research.

Review of applications will begin on January 20, 2018 and continue until the position is filled.
